Embrace of the Serpent

Colombia, 2015
Director: Ciro Guerra

Showing: 31 January 2018

Filmed mainly in black and white, this is the first film to be shot on location in the Amazon in thirty years and it tells the story of the relationship between Karamakate , the shaman and two scientists, one in 1909 and one in 1940, both in search of a sacred healing plant. The atmosphere of the film is surreal and dreamlike, set in a kaleidoscope of rivers and forests.
